Before and After - Part 2

Have been real busy lately and as a result blog-hybernating... As promised a sequel of our home improvement project...

Before : The living area

After: Repaint the wall with bold apple green, change the surface of the cabinets' door and drawers; to add some contemporary taste we hang an abstract paint on the side wall.

After, tile up for easy maintenance and a rod iron hand rail.

After, resprayed built-in cabinet, changed the doors of the drawers and replaced the seater'' fabric, we recycled the curtains..

Ah... after a month long of supervision and hard labor, finally we are now enjoying the fruits of our labor. We thank God for our new home and we know that there's a far more better home prepared for us in heaven... Here wishing everyone a Blessed Easter.

Our new home - Before n After

As promised... below are some before n after shots of our new home.

We'll start with the garden... before, the area is about 12'x24'

Job done: Extended our backyard garden double the size, planted some carpet grass and re-arrange some of our collections... we are planning to add more species after CNY, so far we have organized a potbless here, we're going to use this area for more family gatherings and fellowship with friends and neighbours.

Job done: Not much, repaint the wall with a coat of fresh bold apple green mixed with a lighter tone of green, balinese painting on the wall.

Task done: We maintained the L-shape cabinets and kitchen tops and just changed the cabinet doors' surface, added a 3'x 4' island and a stand alone cabinet with a build-in oven.



Alright, the kids are sleepy and I got to stop here...stay tuned for more pics and updates.

Decision making...

Over the past few weeks and upcoming weeks, hubby and I made or will be making a lot of decision, so far we have sort of made our decisions on below items:

1) The colour to all the rooms, exterior and roof, instead of turning the rooms into showrooms, we hope to include our personal character and harmonization to the entire colour scheme.
2) The kitchen hood and hob - we confirmed that during the HomeDec exhibition last 2 weeks
3) The finishes of the kitchen cabinet, island, living room cabinet and other cabinets
4) The basin tap, basin type, WC, toilet tiles, we are going to have 2 brand new toilets with bath.
5) Bed frame, coffee table, book rack - something that we shopped earlier..

Yet to be decided:
1) To buy a brand new oven or just use the existing..
2) Our king size mattress (Very important!)
3) To what extend we will do up the backyard garden
4) Anything good and affordable from Ikea
5) Other furnishing items

You see we sort of gave ourselves and our contractors 4 weeks to do the job once we got hold of the house key... we hope to move in before Christmas or before the end of the year... Hubby is enjoying the whole process of sourcing, walking and negotiating but I'm more looking forward to the end result, so my role is to select/make choices (often pricy choices) and he will close the deal or talk me out of it, that's how we complement each other, let's hope we won't start a world war 3!

Home Improvement 2

I've been busy scribbling and sketching nowadays. I keep a notebook, scrap paper with me so that whenever idea came by I just got to jot them out because I got to accept the fact that I'm a late thirty something woman with depleting brain cells. I've been having these random home improvement/deco ideas pouring in lately, whenever we find time especially the weekends, hubby and I will scout around searching for the best deal and going to and forth our new home taking measurements here and there (with the previous owner still around! what a nuisance are we, Ha!).

Below are WIP projects! When we are truly done, I hope to post a before and after post for you all yeah!

Renovation Idea

Been looking into websites to get inspiration for our humble new home (in a couple of months, by God's grace)..... anyone out there can recommend reliable, reasonable quality and cost effective suppliers/contractors within Penang/mainland?? We'll be sticking to most of the original design (cost saving) and try to modify by adding our personal touch here and there...this is a home where we will dedicate to the work of the Lord....
